Sponsored by a Small Undergraduate Research Grant (SURG), Jonathan Ota (jonathanota.com) and Ethan Frier (ethanfrier.com) are designing a bicycle safety system. We are embedding LED's into the rim of a bicycle to increase the visual presence of the rider from the side, to prevent being hit from the side; the most common bicycle accident. The entire safety system is self-powered, meaning a constant always on safety system that requires little rider input.
