Inspired partly by his son, who has played basketball with boys from Compton from a young age and partly by the sad realization that there are so many lines that divide us as people, Court began a one man quest to create a line that would bring everyone together. As it worked out, that line is on a basketball court in Compton High School. This initiative, which begins production on March 7th, has been in the works for two years, has become not just become Court’s latest film, but his driving passion. Before creating Free Throw, Court wrote the original draft of the hit Dreamworks’ film, Old School and penned the award-winning independent film, A Lobster Tale starring Colm Meaney. He also published a children’s book called, “Hugville” through Random House and sold a TV pilot to ABC. All while being a partner and executive creative director of the ad agency, WONGDOODY.
