Ideas developed within Sagafilm and produced for the TV market have been successful and popular, thus securing the broadcaster high ratings and strong revenue. Sagafilm has produced TV series the three major Icelandic broadcasters simultaneously. Amongst home made comedy and drama series successes are the multi award winning Stelpurnar (The Girls), Svínasúpan (The Pig Soup), Pressa (The Press), Svartir Englar (Black Angels) Réttur (Court), Ástridur and cult shift series Næturvaktin, Dagvaktin and Fangavaktin (The Nightshift, Dayshift and Prisonshift).
Sagafilm headquarters are in Reykjavík, a perfect base for professionals from all over the world, with their special needs in term of service, equipment and locations.
Sagafilm also offers full production and location service for its clients. The track record includes work with and for major studios when serving films like; View to a Kill (James Bond), Tomb Raider and Batman Begins. EON Productions again called upon Sagafilm to assist with the shoot that took place in Iceland for the James Bond movie "Die Another Day” and Alexander Sukarov's Faust was shot on location in Iceland late 2009.
Saga film has throughout the years been the main producer of documentaries for the Icelandic market and owns an exceptional archive covering Icelandic history and landscape. Amongst longer running and new series is the ever debatable building of Europe's biggest hydraulic station -Kárahnjúkar. Followed by Sagafilm over 6 years the series was commissioned by Landsvirkjun and transmitted by RUV.
