Alison Klayman is a freelance journalist and documentary filmmaker. While living in China from 2006 to 2010, Klayman produced radio and television feature stories for NPR’s “All Things Considered,” AP Television, Voice of America, Current TV, and CBC. She recently reported the story "Who’s Afraid of Ai Weiwei?" for PBS Frontline. Her first feature documentary film AI WEIWEI: NEVER SORRY, will be released in 2011. She has been a guest on NPR's "On Point with Tom Ashbrook," PRI's "Studio 360 with Kurt Anderson," BBC Radio 4 "Profile", CBC's "The Current" and more.
Her documentary short “Ai Weiwei: New York Photographs 1983-1993” was shown as part of the artist’s exhibition at the Three Shadows Photography Art Centre in Beijing from January through April of 2009. She also adapted a shorter version for the Tate Modern's online channel, TateShots.
She speaks Mandarin Chinese and Hebrew, and graduated from Brown University in 2006.
