Claire Cote is a dance and visual artist from Baltimore, MD, where she studied modern dance, ballet, choreography, anthropology and art at Goucher College. She is a founding member of Effervescent Collective, with whom she practices Gaga technique and has collectively choreographed and performed in numerous performances. She also practices contact improvisation and
Authentic Movement with Iron Rainbow Dance Theatre and collaborates with BXDC (Baltimore Experimental Dance Collective). Her work has premiered in the Transmodern Festival, the Baltimore Experimental Dance Round Robin, and at the Annex Theatre in Baltimore. Influenced by her experience of culture
in Baltimore, Turkey and Brazil, she aims to develop dance works both on the professional as well as community level that communicates social and political issues. In August 2011 she moved to Berlin, Germany to pursue opportunities in the vibrant dance culture there.
