Using a lens based practice and a feminist sensibility I consider the gendered body and its relationship to identity, power and spirituality. My work centres itself largely in narrative filmmaking as I use story to anchor the body between representation and abstraction. As a story teller I try and integrate the camera itself as a central character in the story. I probe the camera itself as a source of subjectivity, forcing the audience to consider who's eyes are watching from behind the lens. I am also interested in exploring alternate modes of presentation including expanded cinema and installation. I studied Fine Arts at the University of Manitoba and quickly began to focus my practice on story and the moving image. I developed myself as a filmmaker once I graduated with my BFA, expanding my technical knowledge and challenging myself conceptually.
