sorry, didn't come back here for some days...
yes I was talking about the Lift/Gamma/Gain controls. What I meant with "light up the mids" was actually to do so with an ordinary curves effect. It needs some tweaking as you'd have to add additional points somewhere below the highlight-end to ensure the whites are not crushed again. -
