Biju commented on I mac configuration for smooth editing of Panasonic AG HMC 151/150 Footage?

I agree Andrew. But when I about think the price level of a core 2 quad imac plus the price of the panasonic ag hmc 150, better I can prefer Sony Ex1. Because XDCam format is easy to edit and my current Core2Duo PC with 4GB Ram can handle the footage. If I buy an AG HMC 150, I must upgrade my machine too. Iam getting good feed back of AG HMC 150, but when I think about Editing, I have to consider the easy work flow cams such Sony EX1 or JVC GY HM 100. Cheers.

You answered very well perrone. I was eager to hear from an expereienced video maker like you. The DSLR may be good for videos too, but there are some limitations to shoot videos. Regarding My upgarde, camera would be a key factor to choose my machine. If I would buy an EX1, I would prefer a Quad Core windows PC, simply because of the XDcam work flow on Premier pro. Due to the price factor, I can't afford an EX1 and a Mac all together, so I may go to the Ex1 not for the mac. Glad to know that you are happy with your Ex1.Its a strange that the Ex1 doesn't have a HDMI out? I like the PAL and NTSC capability of EX1 as a universal camera.Any how let's wait until the price of Ex1 come down. Thanks a lot Perrone for sharing your experience on Cameras and NLE.

Good information and thanks a lot perrone. I went thru the link you have given, there is a big difference in the price level. I must agree that the adobe premier pro is a great and Pro level NLE Program. But I think the FCP is considered as an Industrial standered Editing program. For stability in Editing, I think a mac can do the Job better than a Windows based PC, because of less crash & less threat of virus. I have a question; does a dual core 3.Ghz imac with 4 GB Ram can handle the convertion of AVCHD into ProRess smoothly? Does it will take more time to the convertion process with AVCHD? Your information appreciated.

Well..Paulo, I agree it.But When we decide to buy a 64 bit Windows PC to handle the AVCHD, I think the cost would be higher than an I mac ? So For the smooth converting into ProRess on FCP, what level imac configuration required? Thanks a million....

Hi everyone, From your experience, what should be the imac configuration for the smooth Editing of the panasonic AG HMC 151/150 footage on FCP? Are you consider an imac with a 4 GB RAM will handle the AVCHD work flow smoothly? Look forward for your valuable response prior to upgrade my camera and PC. Cheers.
