DREAL

I was asked a question by Scott Stewart, and my answer described how i felt about video so accurately i decide to post it as my bio. lol.

We are in a VIDEO REVOLUTION! I love film but why i love video even more is because it is a medium of access. Film can almost be seen as a rich persons game. Barred by people who hold lots of money.

Now depending if your vision matches theirs you may or may not be able to tap any of that money to make a project. Thus the same types of films always get made by the same types of people.

Video changes all of that. It makes it easier to put cameras into hand of people who do not have the financial power to mess with film.

But even more importantly video is able to access stories which may have never been told from a film perspective due to the reasons I've mentioned earlier.

Video can also be seen from a simplicity stand point, kind of a retrospective to bare bones film making, a good example that comes to mind is "Dogma" film making. Video helps foster this.

At what other time in the history of the world, could we be really interested in watching the everyday lives of people. Looking at videos and saying "hey, those people do the exact same stupid shit that we do in our spare time." On that level alone, video in conjunction with pages like You Tube and Vimeo actually brings people together, and shows us how similar we are.

That being said, we as the soldiers of the revolution must remember to keep our fight efficient and not ramble with the media, but make clear concise statements with our video tool, so that people will take the medium serious.

For years it seems like video has been the unwanted little brother or sister of film...I'm glad to see it coming into its own.

long live creativity and the accessibility that video provides it.
