I was born and educated in New York City. I attended Queens College where I earned my BA and MS in education. I taught in New York City for 33 years.
While I taught during the day, I attended The New School of Social Research/Parsons School of Design at night studying fashion design. Two years later, the door opened for me to attend the Art Students League in NYC where I studied with John Howard Sanden, Anthony Palumbo, and David Leffel. It was with David Leffel that my childhood aspiration of becoming an artist blossomed. I studied with him for three years at night after teaching during the day and during the summers. I consider it an honor to have studied with David. Through studying with him, I learned to have a concept in mind before I put my brush to the canvas and how to realize the painting's concept through the use of composition, edges, values, color, and exploiting all the qualities of oil paint.
Upon leaving the League I continued painting at night while teaching during the day.
Life has intervened several times and has prevented me from painting-caring for my elderly parents, rearing my daughter, moving, caring for other family members.
I started the discipline of painting every day by painting small paintings in January 2011 to improve my painting skills. These paintings are sold from my blog, eBay, or from the Daily Paintworks Gallery.
