I usually start by balancing the color of white in the Histogram>Parade, then optimize the dynamic range of exposure throughout the image. Then I crush the blacks to taste ( usually about 5%), before moving to secondaries, where I optimize saturation and creatively paint the image with whatever mood it dictates. Sometimes I'll add a mask or two there and really fine tune things that are important to the story. Thanks for looking.
