Zwerchfell Verlag

Founded by Christian Heesch in 1988, Zwerchfell Verlag began publishing comic books in Hamburg, Germany. Germany‘s first Independent Publisher, we‘ve since produced comics from all kinds of genres, by authors from the Underground as well as from the Mainstream. Zwerchfell Verlag wants to support young, unknown artists as well as giving established artists a venue to publish the kind of innovative books that larger publishers in Germany may shun. We publish the kind of comic books we like to read ourselves, which makes for a nice mix. For our work, we were awarded the »Max & Moritz Preis« at the Comic Salon Erlangen 1998, as well as awards in numerous categories of the ICOM Independent Comic Preis over the years. Since October 2009, Stefan Dinter and Christopher Tauber are Co-Publishers at Zwerchfell.
