The “British Motorcycle Owners Association” Inc was founded in 1979 in Mackay, Queensland, Australia.
The purpose of the club is for like minded motorcycling enthusiasts to enjoy all aspects of motorcycling with particular emphasis on British Motorcycles, which for such a long time dominated the motorcycling world, without focusing on any one particular brand.
Since 1979 the membership has continually grown with members coming and going but overall it has grown to be a very strong friendly club with in excess of 80 active members.
The BMOA has always been active in raising and distributing funds to Charities and other non profit or non funded Organisations while also supporting the sport of Motorcycle Racing in many varying forms. The main source of fund raising is via the “BMOA All Bike Show” which is run over the 3rd weekend in July every year. This bike show first began in 1984 and has run every year since and is believed to be the longest continually running bike show in Australia. As its name applies the “All Bike Show” is open to all motorcycles no matter what brand or age and at present caters for 17 different categories.
The Club meets on the 2nd Sunday of every month at the Mackay Aero Club (with whom we are affiliated) at 9.00 am for a meeting start time of 9.30 am. We also hold organised Club Rides on the 3rd Sunday of every month to various locations in and around the Mackay District. The Club is also very active in participating in historic bike meets all over the country and generally goes away for weekend rides as well as week long excursions to different areas within the state. In recent times, since the re-emergence of the popularity of motorcycling, the owners of “Modern Bikes” have also been organising week long trips of between 2,000 and 3,000 klms distance to all corners of the state and also some interstate destinations.
