18 days agoCarl Merriam commented on VIP PreviewWe used two tungsten lights (1000 and 500 watt halogens). Since these are constant they reduce the lines caused by fluorescent lighting. The Nikkor 35 1.4 helps a lot when shooting indoors as well.

6 months agoCarl Merriam commented on Nikon v Canon HD TestI've been in there before! Boot's has the worst lightning for video.
I recommend the D5000, mostly because it shoots at 24p and captures higher quality stills. The variable 2.8-5.7/f is a big minus for me on the SX1. That along with its 30p frame rate make it look more like camcorder and less like a movie. It's all about the look you think is more beneficial to you.
If you get the 5000 we can use it and my D90, they'll cut together seamlessly.
