I am a video editor by trade and a sculptor by nature. I currently work freelance in the Fresno area, mostly for BLARE Media (blaremedia.net) and Cine-Look (cine-look.com). For fun, I specialize in LEGO sculpture (examples can be seen at brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?m=tmbgrulz).

We used two tungsten lights (1000 and 500 watt halogens). Since these are constant they reduce the lines caused by fluorescent lighting. The Nikkor 35 1.4 helps a lot when shooting indoors as well.

I've been in there before! Boot's has the worst lightning for video.

I recommend the D5000, mostly because it shoots at 24p and captures higher quality stills. The variable 2.8-5.7/f is a big minus for me on the SX1. That along with its 30p frame rate make it look more like camcorder and less like a movie. It's all about the look you think is more beneficial to you.

If you get the 5000 we can use it and my D90, they'll cut together seamlessly.
