Award winning Seattle Composer, Nan Avant, has collaborated with directors from San Francisco, Portland, Seattle and New York. Nan has been nominated for a Hollywood Music in Media Award for her concert work, Tributum, composed for Celtic Bagpipes and Chamber Orchestra. She has won several awards from the Park City Film Music Festival from 2009-2011 including her most recent Gold Medal Award for Three Actresses Walk Into A Bathroom directed by Jade Justad, Silver Medals for Excellence for Unremembered directed by Greg Kerr and Maria in the Kitchen directed by Nik Perleros and Laurel Minter. Nan's score for the comedy short " Alistair MacLean: Y'did Nefesh" directed by Andy Spletzer and produced by Meredith Binder, received a " Silver Medal for Excellence Award" for Best Impact of Music in a Short Film at the Park City Film Music Festival in 2009. She is also proud to have won the 2008 ”Best Musical Score” Award for The 48 Hour Film Project in Seattle. Nan Avant's collaborative work on The Moyer Foundation's Camp Erin PSA with Women in Film Seattle has aired on Network and Cable TV in the Northwest and Philadelphia.

Ms.Avant graduated from California Institute of the Arts and received a BFA degree in Piano Performance. Avant studied film scoring and orchestration with two time Emmy Award winner, Hummie Mann. She is a graduate of the Pacific Northwest Film Scoring Program .
Avant is a member of ASCAP, Women in Film Seattle/New York, IFP Seattle/New York, The Northwest Film Forum and The Seattle Composers Alliance. Ms Avant contributes articles to an online entertainment magazine. No StringsAttached E-News.
