Gerhardt Slawitschka is a graduate of Georgia State University’s Film and Video Production program. He has been making movies and videos since the third grade, and today finds himself able to confidently handle almost any aspect of production. His years of editing and compositing experience have earned him the business of Herschend Family Entertainment, one of the country’s largest themed-entertainment companies, the Georgia Institute of Technology, and Cartoon Network. Outside of the post world, Gerhardt has clocked hundreds of hours on set working as a camera assistant and as an electrician, most notably on the upcoming feature film Premature, the Ludacris music video Jingalin, and the indie feature Heavy Water.
As much as he enjoys the technical side of film making, Gerhardt’s true love lies with story. An accomplished director and writer, Gerhardt’s sophomore short film Stylistic Interruption took home the award for Southeastern Best Picture in the 2010 Campus Moviefest competition, and went on to place among the top 16 at the competition’s international level. His follow up short, On The Air, made a repeat international top sixteen appearance the next year.
Gerhardt continues to write, direct, and build his knowledge of all aspects of the film industry. His self written, directed and produced thesis film, Between Friends, completed a successful festival run in the spring of 2013 and is finally available for public screening. His most recent work comprises of a pair of music videos directed for local Atlanta artist Sydney Rhame and New York band My Beautiful Paramedic, as well as a slice-of-life short, Left Unsaid.
