NDCWales is an artist-led company with a wide-ranging international programme of contemporary dance including repertory touring, presenting and curating new and established artists, a portfolio of research activity and training courses for young people.
Founded in 1983 as Diversions, the Company moved in 2004 to new, purpose-built premises at the Dance House in Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff. In 2008, the Company was recognised with a Beacon Company award for excellence by the Arts Council of Wales and a year later changed its name to National Dance Company Wales.
As a leader in the development of the art form in Wales, under the Artistic Direction of co-founder Ann Sholem NDCWales enriches the cultural life of the nation by bringing to Wales some of the world’s great choreography.
Active internationally, NDCWales has productions from Ohad Naharin, Stephen Petronio, Itzik Galili, Gustavo Ramírez Sansano, Stijn Celis, Roy Campbell-Moore and Eleesha Drennan, and has recently toured to India, China, Switzerland, Italy and Germany.
