Vance Malone has an eye for filmmaking. Raised in Wyoming, the state was his first subject when he picked up a camera as a kid. Later, he found himself enticed by the majestic backdrop of the Pacific Northwest, where he began his career location scouting and casting. His knack for teaming interesting faces, places and compositions landed him squarely in the director's chair. Vance's ability to bring out natural performances from non-actors swiftly translated into well-received "real people" spots for Adidas, Nike and Goodwill. As his reel has grown, Vance has segued into performance based visual story telling, with his background in "real people" providing an invaluable skill set in garnering first-rate performances from professional actors.
Malone's personable style and attention to detail continue to create a lasting impression on clients and agencies in addition to earning critical acclaim. Vance has enjoyed numerous awards for his commercials and short films including a Clio for "Permission", a spot for MTV's Choose or Lose campaign, a Cannes Lion for AdCouncil "Cheerleader", and his work for Subaru landed both the automaker and DDB NY a Green Award for Excellence in Communication.
Vance is also an accomplished documentarian and short film director, receiving awards from numerous festivals including Sundance, AFI/Silverdocs, Cinema Eye, Worldwide Shortsfest, Calgary Underground and Gen Art among others. Many of his films go on for broadcast on the Sundance Channel, PBS in the US and Arte in Europe.
