For iliketowatchanddancetoo I came up with a new permutation in the Motion Screen or Moodwall series, sometimes referred to as Interactive Light Wall, or just E-series.

This Installation exploits the dance movements of the audience in order to create huge flames of light. Four small stages on top of the main stage of Paradiso invited the audience to play with the flames and show-off their movements. The result was astonishing: the stages were occupied all of the time, the flames created a great atmosphere and the audience seemed to have a really good time.

The Installation was introduced by the Trippin Angels, who made a special choreography for the wall.

The Firescreens were controlled by visualist Alex Boonstra (Mosfet) who integrated the installation seam-lessly into his lighting.

The Mirror of Broken Time reflects the performers live image as a kaleidoscopic collage of body parts and movements. Each fragment of the Mirror separately transposes its reflections time and location, cumulating in a... a... well, just watch the video

I collaborated with choreographer Leonie Kuipers and actress Laura de Boer to explore the possibilities of this strange machine. Together we forged a short performance in which Laura outsmarts her reflections. The beautiful music of the performance is composed by Michiel Mensingh.
The projection surface of the installation is developed in collaboration with Manuel Rodrigues (Mosfet).

The Mirror of Broken Time was first presented @ the Festival of Games on invitation by the MiMM.

Amsterdam, 2009

In commission by Urban Alliance I designed the interaction for the Bijlmer Moodwall. The wall is situated in a pedestrian tunnel in the Amsterdam South East district and interacts with people passing by.

Based on the workings of the E4 MotionWall, I created low resolution color patterns to accompany the people. For the Open Source art route I developed particle based little creatures responding capri-ciously to all movement in the tunnel.

The Moodwall is designed by Jasper Klinkhamer in collaboration with Remco Wilcke, who is also responsible for the construction. Hans van Helden and Matthijs ten Berge of Illuminate are responsible for getting me involved with the project.

My first Installation after finishing the Film Academy, ironically also in commission by this academy.

In this work I experimented for the first time with the techniques that in later years resulted in the E-series: Movement of people is used as a source for generative video effects.

With a little bit of luck the installation can stil be found on the first floor of the Netherlands Film and Television Academy in Amsterdam. (when you enter the building, take the funny stairs to your right)

Eindhoven, 2007

The ImageRadio Festival invited me to create an interactive installation for a high resolution Philips video wall. This resulted in the E4 MotionWall.

If no people were present near the wall it provoked the curiosity of the audience by showing a slowly moving color pattern (i later named the primordial soup) complimented by an atmospheric soundscape. When people approached the wall it came to live showing shadows of light and exclamating sounds of joy.
