Nicholas S. Geist celebrates 17 years of success as an editor and post production supervisor developing workflows for both AVID and Final Cut Pro and now Adobe CC. His success as a post production supervisor on some of the largest music videos to date allowed him to push the creative envelope and constantly exist on the “bleeding edge” of technology. He was one of the first in LA to design and own an AVID on a PC workstation. He built two of the first uncompressed SD Final Cut Pro facilities in Burbank and later reconfigured them for HD. His technical knowledge makes him indispensable when it comes to the maneuvering of media in a wide variety of circumstances. Now located in Houston, TX, Nicholas is making his mark with digital migration for local broadcasters. He has consulted on several projects utilizing tapeless acquisition, digital asset management, media encoding and compression for web and mobile content as well as live streaming media. Mr. Geist has extensive experience in the production of contemporary music videos and commercials. In 2000 alone his efforts as Post Production Supervisor and Editor earned three MTV Video Music Awards. Mr. Geist has worked with many of the top-recording artists in history. His work covers a broad range of artists from country recording stars such as, Willie Nelson, Faith Hill, and LeAnn Rimes, to pop superstars such as Elton John, Janet Jackson, and Britney Spears, to hip hop artists such as Ice Cube, Sisqo, Wu Tang Clan, Shaquille O'Neal, and many others. Since 2007, Nicholas Geist has edited and finished over 1900 commercial spots and 100 reality episodes, prime-time specials and paid-programming specials. Nicholas Geist is a member of SBE and currently studying for the Broadcast Technologist exam.
