Volker started diving by the age of 12. In 1990 he moved to Kenya were he set up 16 diving schools. He is a PADI and SSI diving instructor as well as a pilot. He started underwater photography in 1990 and switched to underwater videography in 1997. He is the founder of the East African Whale Shark Trust and has won several awards for his work. He has traveled all over the world in search of the world's best dive destinations but calls Kenya his home where he resides with his wife Nimu who shares his passion for underwater videography.
