At present, I run OLPC Europe. I left academia in 1989 and was involved in two international IPOs (Stepstone [LSE: sso], Eunet-Qwest [nyse:Q]. I am known for an idealistic endeavor: Starlab, Europes private blue-sky research Laboratory (called Nerd Heaven) that once, like Paul Allens Interval and Xerox Parc specialized in highly advanced deep future research. I was named many things in the media, but the one I prefer is Corriere della Seras: the Woody Allen del business.
