Winter Nights

Winter Nights is about a strong-willed Megan Snow, who kidnaps a decorated WWII veteran, Colton Winters. Through a series of flash-backs the film begins to reveal one woman’s powerful secret behind the kidnapping, what drives Megan to such act, and what propels the reclusive Colton to go along on the journey with the young and seemingly innocent Megan. Is it her charm? Is it her will? Is it the Luger? Or is it destiny?

Whatever the reasons may be that brought Megan and Colton together, though generations apart, is the best and the worst that could have happened to their very lives.

Their brief road adventure fills with quirkiness, misunderstanding through a generation gap, and unforeseen danger that awaits them. Through it all they each discover the true meaning of second chances, forgiveness, and that pride has its place and time, but when we let pride get in the way of love, our lives fill with emptiness…like sleeping on a block of ice.

First of all thank you for looking us up. The EX3 is an incredible camera in its price range. I didn’t purchase one since our budget didn’t allow it….all was rented. The image quality is amazing even with the stock lens, which Winter was shot on. You can’t tell from the image quality here since it has been compressed for the web. In its native form and a bit of color grading, I was amazed at the level of the EX3.

There are limitations that I see on the EX3, for example focusing and the focus assist are not great or easy to use, this limits options for camera movement (a focus puller is highly recommended). But for Winter, this is fine as it’s a drama and our focus is on the story so I was fine with that. We had some trouble with the focus issue and had to reshoot some of the scenes.

As for the workflow, I can’t stress enough on testing the entire workflow before shooting. I did about one month of just trying out different post solutions before settling on one. The other thing you need to consider is knowing ahead of time what your final output is and what format you’re shooting (720p, 1080i, or 1080p) and at what frame rate…that is half the battle.

I wouldn’t go back to any lesser camera at this point. I am among other people who are patiently waiting for the Red One Scarlet to arrive and see how that stacks up with the EX3. On paper Scarlet sounds more superior at very a attractive price but until then who knows.
