It was founded in January 2009 on the ideals that the rolling (xtreme rollerblading) professional circuit must be headed by an organization that is truly representative of the entire professional rolling community.

The first steps that the WRS is taking is teaming up with the AIL Amateur Circuit (inlineleague.com) and existing meaningful events to organize a Pro and Am contest world series, creating a world pro ranking list along with a world championship event in California, establishing a standardized judging system, and redefining the Professional aspect of the sport.
