Part #3 :: Sun Stand Sill by Pastor Sam Masteller
Last weekend Sam Mastellar concluded the Code Red sermon series with How to Live a Life of Audacious Faith. Audacious meaning very confident and daring; very bold and surprising or shocking.
After Moses death Joshua stepped up. He launched a campaign activated by audacious faith in God’s goodness and power. And Joshua changed the world in his generation. (Joshua 10)
Life is better when confidence is bigger. You will view yourself through your own eyes, the eyes of others or the eyes of God. Build your confidence on the promises of God. In Romans 15:13 Paul says, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” You must know the audacious promises of God and you must choose to have big audacious faith. When your faith becomes big, negative thinking becomes small.
Extraordinary moves of God begin with ordinary acts of obedience. If you do the believing, he’ll do the achieving. Hearing the Word initiates faith. Speaking the Word activates faith. Doing the word demonstrates faith.
Sam encouraged us to determine to pray big audacious prayers. Joshua 10:12-13 says “Joshua stood before all the people of Israel and said to the Lord: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon. Moon, stand still over the Valley of Aijalon. So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped until the people defeated their enemies.” Joshua had the audacity to ask God to make the sun stop in the sky and according to scripture God gave Joshua exactly what He ordered. Could it be that God intends for us to have the same kind of audacious faith? Sam does! He left us saying, “I believe he still desires to make the sun stand still over the life of every believer, IF we’ll have the audacity to ask.”
What would you pray if you believed God would do it? Don’t give up! God is able.
