12 JUL 14 - Mount Si, North Bend, WA, USA
As a farewell hike for a friend of mine leaving for school, we chose to go to Mount Si. I've gone there many times before so I wanted to do something different. We planned to do it in the early mornings to catch the sunrise from the summit. I've been getting into capturing moments via time lapses just from how simple they are yet always so interesting to see time collapsed into a short span. So I planned to take a time lapse of the sunrise.
We got to the trail head parking and set off around 3:30 AM. After hiking up four miles and 3,200 feet of vertical gain, we reached the summit at around 5:30 AM, setting all our things up by 6:00 AM. We just missed getting our equipment ready in time to see the transition from dawn to sunrise. Nonetheless it was still a beautiful clear day and we had a great view of Mount Rainier out in the distance.
With GorillaPod and GoPro set up we ate our meal and took shots of the view around us, also socializing with the creatures around us.
