There is something magical about the soft light tones of the late afternoon sun. On days when this almost surreal light converges with just the right cloud, wind, sea and surf conditions, it’s as if the Hawaiian Isles are suddenly on steroids. Powerful sets of waves roll off the open ocean and come crashing against black volcanic rock ledges. The back spray refracts light sometimes creating momentary holographic rainbow images. Sunlight glistens off shiny wet rock as miniature waterfalls quickly form then go rapidly cascading back to their source. There is a lot of energy being generated by this cacophonous symphony of natural elements. It swirls like visible Aloha around these small isolated islands located in the middle of nothing but the beautiful Pacific. It’s impossible to fully capture these moments through digital imagery. They have to be experienced up close and myopically. But why should that stop me from trying to at least provide a glimpse? Here are a few attempts at capturing some of the Aloha and sending it wafting out upon the virtual tradewinds. Aloha for now!
