Josh is a senior Math and Political Science major from Decorah, Iowa. Through his experience in the Great Conversation program as well as a three-week trip to Namibia in the summer of 2012, he discovered his enthusiasm for studying poverty. He continued to hone this interest in poverty issues last year as a General Course student at the London School of Economics and Political Science, where he first discovered his academic passion: the universal basic income. After studying the basic income in an independent study with Mary Carlsen and Tony Lott last fall, he remains as passionate about the policy as ever. Next year, he is returning to the London School of Economics and Political Science for an MSc in Social Policy.
