BraveArt is an art project celebrating the positive powers of sport and art.
It was conceived to highlight the bravery and positive attitude of the breast cancer survivors in the CanSurvive Dragon Boat Team of Wellington.
In April 2014 nine members of the team made molds of their own torsos in plaster each showing varying scars of breast cancer treatment. Six brave celebrities joined them, including Wellington Mayor Celia-Wade Brown, and former Miss Universe Lorraine Downes.
At Carrara Ceiling factory these were made into plaster casts which have become the canvases for a range of Wellington artists to create BraveArt - a stunning collection of sixteen artworks on womens' torsos, which will be exhibited, then sold at Auction on August 21 2014.
