"A Handy Test for Doneness"
HD Video and Photography Series
Video duration 6 minutes
"A Handy Test for Doneness" is a video and photography series of the various methods of using your own hand to test the doneness of cooked meat; calling attention to themes of death, vulnerability, violence, and the self. Referencing anatomy, pornography, horror, and other pop-culture signifiers, I highlight not only the biological but the visceral and emotional connection to the foods we consume. Influenced by Suzanne Lacy’s "Learn Where the Meat Comes From" (1976), I encourage my viewing audience to become the object/food item.
