A pair of journalists risk their lives exposing the brutal nature of the Apartheid regime and ultimately help spark the popular movement against Apartheid-all against the exhilarating backdrop and colorful jazz rhythms of 1950's Johannesburg. DRUM is the dramatised life of Henry Nxumalo, an investigative journalist famous in Sophiatown, a district symbolic of the Johannesburg cultural resistance in the 1950s. He works for the popular black magazine, Drum, a real media weapon at that time.
