I worked at Artifex for a year an a half. It was a very small, busy place. I was the only lighting/look dev artist during my first year so I worked on almost every 3d shot the studio produced, and we produced a lot. Generally I had no more than a couple of days to work on anything, even really big shots. Mostly I had just one chance to render my work. There was never enough time to do something over so it had to be right the first time around. On numerous occasions I found myself texturing and rendering a shot within the same week it was airing on TV. Talk about tight deadlines....
The first shot on this reel is my favorite from last year. I had a whole week to work on the sequence those shots came from which felt like an eternity so I managed to polish it to my satisfaction.
I have so much more I could show, but nobody likes an hour long demo reel, and it was just easiest for me to grab shots Artifex used on it's own demo reel so I wouldn't have to worry about what I could or couldn't use.
On these shots I did the look and shader development, texturing, lighting, rendering, and test comps for all the vehicles, guns, elevator shaft and a digi double. I did not work on the city scapes. I also produced modeling, tracking and compositing work while at Artifex, but not on the shots in this reel.
