Melissa has been in recruitment for 17 years starting her career with Hays Montrose, on a public sector surveying desk. She billed £170K and £240K in her first two years, developing from Trainee to Regional Manager within an 8 year time period, most notably running a team of 32 by year 3. She joined Beresford Blake Thomas in 2005, to run the London and South East Region and quickly gained traction by growing the team from 23 to 55 within 2 years. The perm team in 2005 were invoicing £600K per annum, they achieved £2.1M gross profit within 18 months of her tenure. Melissa was responsible for attracting and training all of the staff she recruited at Beresford Blake Thomas which later was acquired by Randstad.
In 2011 Melissa was headhunted into Resourcing Group as COO after Hamilton Bradshaw’s investment into the company. When she joined Resourcing Group alongside Jason Bowler, it had a falling headcount of 23, a flat lining EBIT, a significant public sector presence at 83% of GP, and little exposure to the perm market place. The business had little or no systems and processes in place and many of the staff had never had a formal review. Melissa and Jason identified a clear strategy with which to grow the business : by diversifying into the private sector, talent attraction of only experienced consultants with a proven track record, and increasing market share through selling master vendor and RPO solutions. Within a three year period Resourcing Group achieved headcount growth from 23 to 74, won 2 master vendor contracts with the two biggest housing associations in the UK, doubled annual gross profits, trebled turnover and increased EBIT by 275%.

In January 2014, Amy and James approached Melissa to join Recruitment Entrepreneur as the Director of Operations. Melissa’s role is primarily to work with the CEO’s and business owners to create their vision and strategy. She assists them in attracting top industry talent, helps create the systems and processes required in order to scale their businesses at an accelerated rate and be able to support a headcount of 40+, and she undertakes training and development of consultants and CEO’s.
