On Saturday, April 26, 2014, over 3,000 people attended the Green Prize Festival in celebration of Earth Day. Green Education, Inc, presented the festival in collaboration with Leadership Long Beach, and Green Long Beach. The festival took place at Bixby Park, Long Beach, CA. The second annual Green Prize Festival will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2015 and will showcase yet another one of Long Beach's beautiful parks to be announced at a later date.
The Green Prize Festival is a one-day event highlighting urban farmers, farm to table meals, live entertainment, artists, green technology, environmental organizations as well as education through workshops, demonstrations and guest speakers. The event also features a free bike valet, beer garden, green vendors, food trucks and children’s activities.
Festival founder, Stella Ursua of Green Education notes, “In an effort to highlight and promote local achievements in sustainability and to create a more environmentally focused city, not only on Earth Day but everyday, we are proud to introduce the “Green Prize” annual award program. This prestigious award will honor those illustrating excellence in sustainability within the city of Long Beach, whether it be an individual, school, neighborhood, restaurant, non-profit, business or governmental body.”
