Gladstone's 'Scarecrows Big Day Out' happens every year in November as a fundraiser for Gladstone School in the Wairarapa. The day involves the entire community getting in behind the school including families and local businesses such as the Gladstone Inn. The whole district is asked to create a scarecrow and enter into a scarecrow competition, and those that are off the 'Scarecrow Map' as well as local schools, kindys and business, can still create scarecrows and show them off at "Scarecrows on the Gobbler" which is stunning private golf course in Gladstone. The Big Day Out starts with a Scarecrow Scamper, followed by the famous Scarecrow Fair at Gladstone School. Once visitors have driven around the district using their 'Scarecrow Map', they can rock up to Scarecrows on the Gobbler to enjoy local wine, food and entertainment while wandering around the many scarecrows. It truly is a 'Scarecrows Big Day Out'!
