The definition of word ‘tell’ is communicate information to someone in spoken or written words, while in modern society, we have more ‘languages’ to communicate instead of traditional storytelling method, how to balance advanced media technology development and traditional culture preservation became a sustainable problem for we media students to work on. In my mind, the old heritage is always valuable material for creation, nowadays with youngsters using computers more than ever, to combine cultural heritage with digital technology for reproduction and expression, there would be more presenting modes for its further development.
This is part of my Master degree graduation project, and the development objective of this Intangible Cultural Heritage Project is to improve the promotion and dissemination of the ancient method of storytelling as well as the precursor of modern cinema, shadow puppetry. The animation of Nezha Conquers the Dragon King is a medium to bring back people’s memories of old heritage, and it is an example to illustrate how do digital technology visualize intangible heritages.
Thanks for watching!
