If we confine ourselves to one perspective that we are familiar with, then we are missing the real opportunity. We need to internationalise if we are to get the fullest and roundest picture of our business.
Unless we take this seriously, unless we recognize that the world has changed around us, we are going out into the world thinking that we are something special, we ARE the world, we ARE the Internet, nobody needs to learn another language because everybody speaks English – but we have got one eye shut.
When the Chinese look at the world, they have two eyes open because they are seeing the English and they are seeing the Chinese.
It’s not about language, it’s not about technology, it’s about attitude. It’s about recognizing that they aren’t the world on their own – and nor are we, but we think we are.
