The Chinese way of thinking is much more based on relationship than transaction.
In China the first question is not “why?” – because I’m not sure that’s going to help me - the first question is “what?” What is our role, what is our place within the bigger picture?
Here’s a picture of credit – as in credit card, as in credit crisis – and it shows a person who is leaning on their words or on the words of another.
Ladies and gentlemen, it is this simple: the credit crisis is the banks don’t trust you to be able to pay them back so they are not going to lend to you. It’s that simple – all the guff that has been said and it comes down to that.
And this character, that says that credit is based on being able to trust your word – that character is printed on every single credit card that is issued in China.
