The Cristalino Jungle Lodge in Brazil, a woman-owned business which began before eco-tourism or sustainability were even vague concepts, shows how businesses can protect the rainforest, green the triple bottom line, and be successful all while living at a beautiful lodge in the Amazon.
There's plenty to see for visitors - enthusiastic guides point out butterflies, birds, and even jaguars to guests. While the lodge is as green as they get, guests aren't "roughing it" in this top resort, although they do leave feeling like they’re part of the Cristalino family. With solar panels and grey-water systems on almost all of the buildings, the resort is almost entirely self-sustainable, serving as a model for the global tourism industry.
