Too much carbon in the atmosphere is bad. And the same goes for the oceans, too. Unknown to many, the ocean is a giant carbon sink that absorbs at least 30 percent or one-third of excess carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas that can cause warming of the planet.The Global Ocean Commission launched a five-year rescue plan to help save the global oceans from a state of decline to one of recovery.
