One of Alabama’s best known contemporary writers talks about his life and career with Don Noble after winning the Harper Lee Award, a lifetime achievement prize for native Alabama authors. Born in Lee’s hometown of Monroeville, Childress’ work includes Tender, a novel about Elvis, Crazy in Alabama, One Mississippi, and Georgia Bottoms which he is currently adapting as an opera.
