I got my new Korg nanoKONTROL in the mail today, and used it to prototype a textual interface that I'd been thinking about for a while. Two knobs on the controller determine how much text will be clipped from the center; a slider determines how fast lines are read from input. The idea is to be able to use a gesture to "shape" a text---broad gestures can create broad shapes, or small gestures can create small concrete-like compositions. In this video, I'm using the controller to shape the input text in real time.
Programmed in Python with the help of pyPortMidi. The source text is Lovecraft's "The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath."
