What does it take to help an orphaned child break through the cycle of poverty in inner city New York? Ten year old Sibia--kind, curious, and expressive--glows with potential. But the odds are stacked against her when she and her sister lose their mother, an impoverished single parent from Honduras. Now, two surrogate moms: an aging and still-grieving grandmother and a volunteer mentor, have stepped up to help raise the young girls in Brooklyn, with the help of a nonprofit called the Family Center. Can their love help Sibia overcome all the forces working against her?
