The Greatest Thing You'll Ever Learn is an art installation in development by Rachel Thibbotumunuwe. This video is a sketch of the installation and was created at the National Theatre of Scotland in September 2013 following support via the Ankur Ha Ha artists development programme.
This video visualisation of the artwork was featured in a showcase on October 2nd 2013 at The Tron Theatre in Glasgow.
The inspiration for this work has been led by research into the song Nature Boy, now a well known jazz and pop standard written in 1947 by Eden Ahbez. Nature Boy has been adopted by generations of artists through the decades since it’s debut and has accumulated a unique range of reference points as the song has played out over the backdrop of modern history, identities and technology.
Rachel is based in Glasgow and graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 1998.
The artist wishes to explicitly acknowledge the song, author and artists included in this piece.
Nature Boy written by Eden Ahbez in 1947 and recorded by Nat King Cole, Cher, George Bensen, James Brown, Ella Fitzgerald and Joe Pass, José Feliciano, Full Flava and two youtube stars Masa Rider and a young woman from the United states who sings sweetly in her kitchen.
