Xeriscaping is defined as landscaping or gardening in such a way that reduces or eliminates the need for irrigation by planting drought tolerant native plants. In 2005 and 2006 Idaho Rivers United awarded several landowners and businesses a grant to completely xeriscape their landscapes and yards. Using beautiful native grasses, shrubs, and flowers these landscapes were toured in 2009 and photos were taken. In the summer of 2014 photos were again taken to see how the plants had established themselves. Xeriscaping eliminates the need for excess watering while providing a beautiful and unique yard. This is a great example of what water efficiency looks like.
