When you see someone who is blind, disabled in some way or disadvantaged, what do you think? Do you question what their life is like? Do you ever question our standards of equality or acceptance and do you ever think of them as inspiring? Well, this week Carren has discovered one particular woman, Janet Etchells, who is the voice for a minority in our society who are doing it tough. Janet came to Carren's Couch looking for help. She has been legally blind since birth and has not only suffered at the hands of her upbringing, she has been discriminated against, disadvantaged and struggled through her working and employment life as an adult. With her beautiful Guide Dog, Fergie - short for Ferg-a-licious (and she is just too beautiful for words..... Make sure you watch the show all the way to the end when Carren simply can't control herself for another second!!) Janet talks about her extensive experience, her unbelievable resume of University degrees and qualifications and the challenges she has had as employers just don't see past what she can't do, to what she CAN do! Lee-Anne Whalley from STEPS Australia joins the show to discuss the prevalence of cases similar to Janet's and Carren challenges Australian employers to get behind every human being's right to meaningful employment.
