Every day the niños ran to meet our car when we arrived in Yaxhachen -- always excited and ready for the day's task. On the last work and paint day before the clausura (end of the project celebration), we surprised the kids with a water balloon ambush. Thanks to our dear friend Whitney for filming the event!
Ko'ox Boon (pronounced Co-osch boan) is an idea meaning "Let's paint!" in Yucatec Mayan and also a certified non-profit. The idea represents a sense of community--that rare togetherness found when we transcend language and step into the mystical grounds of creativity. When we paint together, we see past our histories into our heritage. Ko'ox Boon provides the tools for artistic expression and the means to produce art that celebrates a community's unique heritage. These tools give us the means to share our ideas: on our walls, in our gardens, and within our spirits. By donating to Ko'ox Boon, you will contribute to projects large and small.
