Some years ago refugees squatted a piece of land near the Ponte Mammolo railway station in Rome. Then they were eighty people. But their number is now growing fast as more immigrants enter Italy.
Around 300 refugees mainly from Eritrea, amongst them fifty children, are at present living in this refugee camp. The city council allows the situation as they lack sufficient official immigrant centers.
