Demo on a 7m Starkites Arawak 2014 model
Only 5 weeks after a circular saw injury and hand surgery I'm back on the water!
The Arawak is a very stable yet very high performing kite, very responsive, super quick turn and fast across the sky (this was a 7m of course so very fast) but is very controllable speed, it's one of those kites where it will go as fast as you can, can cruise gently or really throw it around.
The design does allow the power to be dumped to a degree should anything go belly up, good depower available simply by pushing the bar, it's not a bow kite with 100% depower at the bar but has very much enough depower to handle gusts and handle getting upwind. also edging the board in hard drives the kite to the edge to kill power too
The kite loops well also, very very fast downloops
I did manage to crash it once nose down ahead of me, relaunch was simple, pull one rear line, perfectly good.
Bar pressure I would say is light-medium, and still gives great feedback on positioning when flying with eyes off of the kite.
Didn't have a chance to try unhooked ability or full kite loops as my hand is still recovering after recent surgery and didn't want to damage it again!
