Swedish cats international shout-out to save the tigers: “It’s meow or never!”
There are only 3 200 tigers left in the wild. Mostly due to illegal hunting by pouchers. That’s 97 percent less than 100 years ago. The Swedish project ”Cat helps Cat”* challenged the approximately 1,3 million domestic cats of Sweden to get involved to save the endangered tigers. WWF Sweden created a sponsor program where a cat could sponsor a tiger with a monthly donation. Today, the Swedish cats reached the goal. Now each one of the 3 200 tigers in the wild have a Swedish cat sponsor.
However, the wild tigers situation are still bad. That’s why Malte, a catactivist and also the project leader for “Cat helps Cat”, decided to do an international cat shout out to other cats. WWF Sweden goal is to double the numbers of tigers to year 2022 – the year of the tiger in the Chinese calendar.
